Week #4: Speed & Size
We will push our physical limits to explore how we can create great variation in speed and size in our movement.
General Class Description:
This six-class composition sequence encourages indulgence and bold decision making through a series of experiments with stillness, speed, gesture, repetition and music. The choreographers will create a simple phrase that can be manipulate for the purpose of exploring how far we can push the limits of acceptable choreography. References to other art forms, including film, music and theater, will be used throughout to illustrate extreme artistic choices. By taking away the expectation of making “good dance,” the choreographers will have the opportunity to explore wide dynamic range, question their assumptions, cultivate a sense of humor about their process and take risks in a supportive, generous environment.
