Framing:
In this class we will discuss the large theatrical conventions Pina uses to frame her dance. How do we know what section should come next? We will discuss my personal tool kit– story boarding, drawing special maps, and drawing energy maps– to see how these tools can be used to frame a work of art. We will then practice with our own existing phrases, cut them up, rearrange them, and edit them to see how we can change their effectiveness.
Homework: Watch Pina Bausch DVD (held at DNA to be viewed the week before)
