Dance and photography? For example I did a series of the Cedar Lake installation, Glassy Essence. I even won a Gold Key for my portfolio in the Regional Scholastic Art Awards 2008.....
Congratulations on the portfolio award. Putting a portfolio together is quite an achievement.
I'm not a photographer and I know that is your interest.
I think it's such an important thing to nurture the eye of dance photographers for the future. I think that one of the amazing successes of the Alvin Ailey has been the way photography has captured the company in motion and helped to define its special essence for the public. The images are immediately powerful and compelling.
Anyway. Hope you keep it going on. I'm just joining the network, so I thought it might be worthwhile to mention to you that I'm looking for people interested in doing more with dance on the net.
I have some background in fundraising and I think that if a group got together and advocated for money and resources to put more dance on the web, we could be successful.
I've recently looked at a lot of dance sites, but I don't see much videod work, I don't see much on Utube either. I've searched company names like Mark Morris and many, many others but the presence is pretty minimal.
Any thoughts you would like to share?. . . I'm listening.
