Second week of the COOL NEW YORK 2010 DANCE FESTIVAL

Dear Friends of WHITE WAVE,

The first week of the COOL NEW YORK 2010 DANCE FESTIVAL has been exhilarating. Our festive Opening Night last Wednesday and all nine shows following were attended by standing-room only crowds at our John Ryan Theater. We are thrilled that WNBC-TV Channel 4 covered our 7th Annual COOL NEW YORK DANCE FESTIVAL on their Saturday morning news broadcast!

Last weekend was bitterly cold, but that was no deterrent to throngs of dance lovers who stood in line on a wind-swept waterfront street in DUMBO. They knew that the reward for their patience and stamina was the chance to witness one of WHITE WAVE’s unique programs.

It was a sheer joy to witness the unique and fresh voices of so many talented dancemakers at our John Ryan Theater. Some of the companies who performed this past week were absolutely superb. Among these are Amos Pinhasi, Becca Alaly + Dancers, DaNaKa Danec by Dana Katz, Elena Demyanenko, kerPlunk, Lucie Baker, TAKE Dance, YelleB Dance Ensemble, Suttlar Martin///4thrightdance, & WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company, just to name a few.

WHITE WAVE is committed to placing the spotlight on the work of rising choreographers, and their performances at our Winter Festival so far have been fantastic! We would greatly appreciate it if you could join us this week at our John Ryan Theater, and support the work of these talented artists.

And Week Two of the COOL NEW YORK DANCE FESTIVAL promises to be equally spectacular! Some of the amazing companies that will be performing include Adam H. Weinert, Avi Scher & Dancers, Emily Pope-Blackman/Hoverbound, Jamal Jackson Dance Company, Lenora Lee, Malcolm Low, Pascal Rekoert/Flexicurve, Sue Bernhard Danceworks, Tomomi Imai, Vangeline Theater, & Yin Yue Dance Company.

This Thursday through Saturday (February 4th - 6th), we will present shows at 7pm and 9pm; Sunday’s programs are at 4pm and 6pm (February 7th). A Day for the Family is presented on Saturday, February 6th at 2pm; your entire family can enjoy the show!

All programs in the COOL NEW YORK 2010 DANCE FESTIVAL are presented free of charge to the public, but donations are encouraged so that WHITE WAVE can continue to serve as many worthy dancemakers as possible in the years to come!
